My fitness career began in 1994. Over the years, I have held a variety of positions within the industry in Brisbane and Sydney, managed two Canberra gyms and worked for a leading international fitness industry supplier.
In my position on the Council for the Register of Exercise Professionals Australia (REPs), I have been instrumental in the tailoring of the new Units of Competencies for the Group Exercise Leader (GEL) registration category in the SIS2010 Training Package for the Fitness Industry, the testing of the new Pre Activity Screening System and the growth of the Continuing Education Framework.
Along with this, I sit on Canberra’s Regional Industry Council for Fitness Australia and the Project Reference Group for the Lift for Life Project.
I am qualified and registered as an Advanced Exercise Professional with Fitness Australia, and as a Massage Therapist with the Australian Association of Massage Therapists Ltd. I hold several other certifications such as Exercise for Rehabilitation, Boxing and Kickboxing for Fitness, Pre and Post Natal Training, Advanced Resistance Training, Fitness Pilates Matwork and Reformer, Children’s Group Fitness and Personal Training, Lift for Life and Sports First Aid.
Aside from running my studio, I teach classes at two local gyms, take movement classes at a local Pre School and work with ACT Health under the Healthy Communities Initiative delivering Lift for Life classes to disadvantaged people at high risk of developing diabetes.
Watching people develop and transform, as their fitness goals are realised is a wonderful experience and I feel privileged that I am in a position to help.
